1. About Hanko AI

Hanko AI is a legal intelligence platform. We provide AI-assisted contract review, document analysis, and related tools designed for use in Japan. Hanko AI is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation.

By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Hanko AI Is and Is Not

Hanko AI provides legal intelligence tools to help you understand documents and identify potential issues. Our AI agents analyze contracts and provide information based on Japanese law, but:

• We are not a licensed law firm under the Attorneys Act of Japan (弁護士法).
• Nothing on our platform constitutes legal advice or creates an attorney-client relationship.
• The Hanko Digital Stamp is an AI-grade certification, not a notarial act or registered seal (実印).
• For matters involving significant legal risk, we recommend consulting a licensed attorney.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not share your account with others or allow unauthorized access. Please notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.

You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to enter into this agreement on behalf of your organization.

4. Requesting Access and Accurate Information

Access to Hanko AI is granted by application. When you request access or apply for the closed beta, you confirm that all information you provide, including your name, contact details, country, organization, and stated use, is true, accurate, and complete, and that you are not misrepresenting your identity or that of any organization you represent.

Providing false, misleading, or fraudulent information is a breach of these Terms. We may reject an application, and we may suspend or terminate access at any time, if we believe information you submitted is untrue or that access is being sought for an improper purpose. You remain responsible for the accuracy of what you submit, and false statements made to obtain access may be relied upon against you.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Hanko AI only for lawful purposes. You must not use the platform, or request access to it, in order to commit, facilitate, or conceal any unlawful or criminal activity. In particular, you must not:

• Provide false information or impersonate any person or organization when applying for or using the service.
• Use Hanko AI to facilitate fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, or any other criminal or unlawful act.
• Upload documents you do not have the right to share.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or extract our AI models or legal corpus.
• Attempt to access other organizations' data or circumvent our security measures.

6. Your Documents and Data

You retain full ownership of all documents you upload. By uploading content, you grant us permission to process it for the purpose of providing our services to you. We do not sell your documents or use them to train our AI models without your explicit consent.

All data is stored on servers located in Japan (AWS Tokyo region) and never transferred outside Japan. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

7. Subscription and Payment

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in Japanese Yen. Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice. All payments are final and non-refundable. We do not offer refunds or credits for any reason, including partial billing periods, unused features, or cancellation mid-cycle. If you cancel your subscription, you retain access until the end of the current billing period.

8. Limitation of Liability

Hanko AI is provided as a tool to assist your understanding of documents. We are not liable for any decisions you make based on our analysis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Hanko AI is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days in accordance with our data retention policy.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tokyo, Japan.
